Helpful Guidelines:

Please don't accept any contributions or spend money on your campaign before visiting Carol Soles at the Board of Elections.  You must first open a bank account and file to open your candidate committee with the Board of Elections. In most cases, this takes place before the official candidate filing period. For complete information, visit the NC campaign finance.

Before going to file for office (July 7, 8 am to July 18, noon)

• Bring a valid Photo ID with you for notarization purposes
• Bring a check for filing fees (cash is ok if the filing fee is $50 or less)
• Any completed campaign finance documents you have already filed. 

What to expect:

• If arriving on the first or last day of filing, you can expect to wait
• Officials will verify your eligibility to file for office
• Filing paperwork will be completed, signed, and notarized
• Filing fees must be paid at the time of filing
• Campaign finance questions will be answered after the filing process
