Cancelled
The Cabarrus County Republican Convention has been cancelled. Specific information about being considered a State Convention delegate is below.
Due to the COVID-19 precautions, the Cabarrus County Republican Party has canceled the Annual Precinct meetings and County Convention that was scheduled to be held on Mar 14th. We did not take making this decision lightly; however, in light of the Governor’s request to not continue with meetings larger than 100 people, we did not feel as though it would be prudent to continue with the convention.
Important Information for Convention Delegates
With the cancellation of the Cabarrus County Republican Party's Annual Convention, many people have questions about their eligibility to serve as a delegate for the upcoming 8th District Convention, North Carolina State Convention, and Republican National Convention.
Normally, if you attend the precinct meeting, then you are automatically a delegate to the county convention. Generally, if you are a delegate to the County Convention, you are a delegate or an alternate delegate to the district and state Convention. In recent history, we have never had more delegates and alternates than available slots.
If you want to be a delegate to the National Convention in Charlotte, you have to be nominated at the 8th District convention. These positions will be highly competitive with very few slots available.
But first, you have to be counted as a delegate to our canceled county convention and that means turning in an Absentee Request Form.
