2020 General Election

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd

Before You Vote

Make sure you are registered. If you've moved since the last time you voted, you may need to update your home address and locate your new polling location.

You will NOT need to present a photo ID when you vote in the 2020 primary elections.

Absentee Vote By Mail

You can avoid the crowds on Election Day by requesting an absentee ballot and returning it by mail. The state even offers online tools so that you can track your ballot to make sure that your vote is counted. We strongly recommend this option if you are concerned about exposure to COVID-19.

  1. You must be registered to vote by October 9th.
    (see the links in the "Before You Vote" section above)
  2. Request your absentee ballot by October 27th.

  3. You will receive a your ballot and instructions in the mail. Fill it out (see our voter guide below) and mail it back. It must be postmarked by November 3rd.
  4. Follow your ballot's progress using NC's online tracker.

Early Voting

This year, "One-Stop" voting will be available every day between Thursday, October 15th and Saturday, October 31st at four locations around the county.

Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 7:30 pm
Saturday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
Sunday 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

September 4th - Mailing of absentee ballots begins
October 9th - Voter registration deadline
October 15th - One-stop early voting vegins
October 27th - Absentee-by-mail ballot request deadline
October 28th - Last day to apply for an absentee ballot for voters who expect to be unable to vote on election day due to sickness or physical disability
October 31st - End of early voting for 2020 general election

November 3rd - Election Day
Last day for BOE to receive hand delivered Absentee Ballots 5 pm
Absentee-by-mail ballots must be postmarked by November 3rd and received no later than the 3rd day following the general election (November 6th)

November 13th - Certification of election
