Pegge Haywood Scholarship Winners Announced
The application process awarded scholarships to four outstanding individuals committed to Republican principles. The Scholarships were awarded on May 1st during the monthly Cabarrus Republican General Meeting.

Pegge Haywood was a dedicated and exemplary Cabarrus County citizen. A lifelong Republican, she attended several national conventions as a delegate and owned the Pegge Lee School of Dance for 40 years. In her will, Pegge left a generous gift to the Cabarrus County Republican Party. In honor of Pegge, the GOP board created an annual scholarship award for college-bound high school students who display a commitment to the party through their activities.
The Cabarrus County Republican Party will work hard to ensure that the Pegge Lee Haywood Scholarship continues to encourage and support young people who follow Pegge’s example and dedicate themselves to public service, charitable work, and a commitment to Republican ideals. Donations to the scholarship fund are held in a reserve account and are exclusively used for future scholarship winners.
